DMR: First Company in Quebec to Obtain CMMI Level 3 Certification! 

Following a year of sustained effort, DMR obtained Level 3 certification in the Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI), the software development process model established by the Software Engineering Institute.

Only 465 companies in the IT sector worldwide have already received such certification. Also, fewer than 20 businesses in Canada have requested that they be assessed for one or another of the five levels. Now a member of an elite family, DMR has the honor of being one of the first businesses in the Quebec City area to receive Level 3 certification.

A shift to continuous improvement

Obtaining CMMI Level 3 certification represents a new stage in DMR's continuous improvement strategy. This recognition shows that we have all the means and tools needed to continuously improve our processes and the way we do business, which we will do thanks to the exemplary work of our dedicated process and quality improvement team.

A rigorous model

Capitalizing on experience and lessons learned, Level 3 of this software capability maturity model incorporates the best practices to be applied when conducting a project so it is delivered on time, on budget and to the client's satisfaction.

Applying demanding processes, the CMMI assessment probes much deeper than an ISO audit. The outcome of this assessment is a list of strengths and weaknesses which the organization uses to undertake a continuous improvement approach.

Contrary to the ISO standard, which applies to all of an organization's operations, the CMMI applies only to the development and maintenance practices. Based on a process approach and concept of continuous improvement, both these standards are perfectly compatible and complementary.
